| Re:Pets | cherie | I have 2 dachsunds and they are great travelers. Our motorhome has plenty of room to run. Not a lot of shedding to clean up. | See RoTi item |
| Re: We spend $41 billion on pets? | Donna | Vera: We have been traveling around the US with 4 dogs and have not had too many problems. We research the campgrounds and call in advance to check with the campground on their pet rules. Four Paws Campground in North Carolina caters to dog owners (rather than to kids :o). We had a wonderful stay there a couple of years ago. Doberman Lover: I have a had a Dobie and I must say that they are an absolutely wonderful breed. It is a shame that some campgrounds do not allow them. Sadly, I think it probably is part of their insurance policy. We have actually had more run ins with nasty small dogs than large dogs...
Rena: There is an item called a Auto Generator Start that is hooked up between the generator & the thermostat. If the power goes out and it gets too hot in your RV the thermostat will sense it and start the generator and the AC. These generally run $200-$300 and can be a life saver. | See RoTi item |
| Re: Microchips for dogs | Ruth O | I agree that microchips for dogs really do work. Our dog was just returned to us after being missing for 2 days. | See RoTi item |
| Why do RV parks charge for dogs? | Andron | Why do some RV parks charge extra for a dog? Assuming that the owner cleans up after their pet, there are no appreciable maintenance costs to the park if you have a pet on a leash or inside your RV. | See RoTi item |
| Re: We spend $41 billion on pets? | Park Manager | RV Park managers and owners would be more willing to have pets if all pet owners would respect the rules that are in place to protect all that use the park. Leashes protect not only your pet but also the wildlife, non- pet visitors and all of the other pets in the park. Then of course, stepping in dog poop is always unpleasant even when the park provides the poop bags for free. | See RoTi item |
| 4 dogs and traveling ... yikes | Vera | We RV almost year round when able to. BUT, we have 4 dogs due to unseen circumstances. Does anyone know of an RV Park that allows this many dogs. They are well behaved and not left outside unattended every. Thanks for the help, if there is any to be found? | See RoTi item |
| Re: We spend $41 billion on pets? | Doberman Lover | I have the same exact problems as above with my dobies. We have an RV and every RV park we try to get reservations with will not accept them. This is a wonderful breed and due to ignorance they are being ostracized. My husband and I can take our dogs to a five star Marriott without anyone saying a thing but we can not have our dogs in OUR travel trailer due to insurance profiling certain breeds as attack dogs. It is really disgusting! | See RoTi item |
| Re: Seat belts for pets | Debbie L | Seat belts for dogs are a great thing. We have used them for more than 10 years. The dogs know when they get in the truck it is time to get them on. They sit and shake paws to get the harnass on. They do not get out of the truck unless we want them to. We lost one dog in an accident and have used the seat belts ever since. We had another accident and both dogs were okay because they were in the truck not running down the highway.
Great investment! | See RoTi item |
| Re: Seat belts for pets | John A | I can't even get the kids to wear seat belts in the RV some of the time. Pets? Probably easier than the kids. Good idea really. | See RoTi item |
| Shetland Sheep Dog (Sheltie) | m.k. westermayer | I rescue Shelties, and have 3 of my own. Shedding has never been a problem. I take mine to a groomer spring and fall, thats when they blow their coat, they get the under coat out. I feed them Purina One. Good food and some omiga 3 fatty acid added will help the coat. I have fostered 70 Shelties, and seen alot of coats. Good Luck w/your fur friends. | See RoTi item |
