This poll was carried out largely during September 2005 to November 2005.  It is still active.  These are the results up to 11/20/2005.  To this date, 2,246 people have taken the poll.

We said in the poll:

• Jump off the cliff - sudden complete retirement
• Build a bridge - more gradual retirement - part time work etc

We then asked: "Which of these is best suited to you, bearing in mind your financial situation?"

72% said they would choose to "build a bridge"; only 28% would "jump off the cliff."

We then asked:

• Jump off the cliff - sudden complete retirement

• Build a bridge - more gradual retirement - part time work etc

47% said that even if money was not a consideration they would still choose to work - "build a bridge."  53% said that they would "jump off the cliff."

In the poll we also asked about seniors using computers:

"A study shows that seniors who use a computer show fewer symptoms of depression than non-users. Email, chat rooms and gathering information in general, are beneficial to an individual’s mental health.  Do you agree with this?"

89% agreed with this; only 11% disagreed.
