Summary:
The RVers who took part in the poll
traveled an average of 5,800 miles in their
RV per year. About 75% of these said
they had taken a long trip.
What's a long trip? It's difficult
to say from the answers - these ranged from
1,000 miles to 26,000 miles. Wow - imagine
an RV trip greater than the circumference of
the earth - that's surely a long trip!
These particular 26,000 miles RVers followed
the Michigan softball team around the
country last year and followed all their
games, going to 38 states in the
process.
Whatever the distance, people certainly
seemed to agree that taking the long trip
was what RVing is all about. On
average, the long trip was 6,100 miles and
of course the destinations covered almost
everywhere in America. You can see a

What about fuel costs? How much did
high fuel costs concern long trippers?
About 25% of the people taking the poll said
fuel costs were VERY important. More
surprisingly, about 8% said fuel costs were
not at all important. Overall, on a
scale of 0 to 5 ( 0 = not important at all
and 5 = VERY important), the average answer
was around 3.5.
The people taking the poll not only gave
details of a long trip they'd taken, but
also gave their experiences about
maintenance and reliability as well as
suggestions about roads to take and roads to
avoid.
