The Roaming Times' Poll

Do Casinos pose a threat to RV Parks?
Do you have reservations about staying at a Casino?  This poll looks at casinos - both those with RV Parks of their own and those that allow RVers to stay overnight in their parking lots.

This poll was carried out largely during February and March 2004.  It is still active.
These are the results up to 3/12/2004.  To this date, 2,046 people have taken the poll.

POLL RESULTS TO DATE
by David Mottram

Summary:

A large proportion of the people polled (64%) have parked overnight in the PARKING LOT of a casino (ie, not a casino with an RV park.)

Almost all of these (94%) would do it again and generally speaking they felt very safe.

About 78% used the casino and gambled during this overnight stay and even more - 82% - used the casino restaurant.

Almost 60% of those polled had stayed at a casino with it's own RV park and generally speaking, based upon the comments given, most people enjoyed these RV parks and would use them again.   When asked if they thought more and more casinos will try to attract RVers by providing RV parking facilities, 84% said "yes".

We also asked -"what about other groups - do you think more and more hotel chains will provide RV parking facilities?".  Only 49% thought this was likely.

And finally, we asked "do you think casinos, hotel groups etc. provide a threat to RV park owners?"  Less than 14% thought they did.  There were many comments however from RV park owners who thought that casinos - like Wal-Mart - were bad for their business.  There were also many comments from RVers who thought many RV parks overcharged and welcomed alternative for overnight stays.
